This week’s student of the week at Council Grove Elementary School is Hayden Massie. She is nine-yearsold and a student in Mrs. Kelley’s third grade class. Hayden enjoys math, reading and playing Waggle on the computer. Her favorite extracurricular activities are gymnastics, flag football and softball. When not in school, Hayden enjoys reading comic books (*the editor digs your comic book enjoyment, Hayden)
An online tool is now available to help ranchers document and estimate payments to cover feed transportation costs caused by drought, which are now covered by the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-raised Fish Program (ELAP). The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) updated the program this year to include feed transportation costs as well as lowered the threshold for when assistance for water hauling expenses is available. USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) will begin taking applications this fall.
The Morris County Commissioners met on Tuesday, October 5 , 2021 at 9 a.m. Commissioners Wayne Kohler, Jim Barber and David Fox were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.

The Council Grove Braves Cross Country team competed at the Flint Hills League Meet on Thursday at the Orchard at Northern Heights. The team posted nine personal records and three season bests on the day among the high school runners and seven personal records among the junior high runners.
