STUDENT PROJECT -- Students in Miss Herde’s third grade class at Council Grove Elementary School participated in a project-based learning assignment last week in which they conducted research, analyzed sources and wrote opinion letters to local government officials about possible improvements to Durland Park. The class performed field research into ways to make playgrounds safer and wrote letters to the mayor and city council members. On Friday, Mayor Debi Schwerdtfeger came to the class to listen to several of the students read their letters. The class was excited to have the mayor visit and to discuss with her civics, safety and the importance of improving our community.

JH BRAVES

JH BRAVES -- Colton Leslie attempts to chase down a Rossville running back on Thursday night during the junior high Braves game against Rossville. The Braves would lose 46-0 on the night. “The JH football team ran into a very physical Rossville team,” said Coach Dustin San Romani. “The Braves struggled on both sides of the football. We were never able to get into a good rhythm.” The team will be back in action on Monday at Northern Heights and on Thursday at West Franklin. (Photo by Amber Weeks)
