COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD -- Council Grove resident Mark Brooks was bestowed an Excellence in Community Service Award by Phyllis Metzger, Registrar of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), Council Oak Chapter at their January 17 meeting.
Following the resignation of Dr. Daniel Frese as Morris County Health Officer on January 11, the Morris County Commissioners held a special meeting on January 14 to appoint Candra Good as Morris County Health Officer. Good will work in consultation with Dr. Melanie Byram.
The Morris County Hospital Auxiliary will host a CBC Blood Drive on February 7 from 11 a.m-5 p.m. at Council Grove Christian Church, 106 E. Main Street.
The Council Grove High School Braves and Lady Braves Basketball teams will take part in the Flint Hills Shoot Out this week at White Auditorium in Emporia. First round action for the boys will take place tonight at 6 p.m. between Mission Valley and Northern Heights and at 7:30 p.m. between Lyndon and Central Heights. Girls first round action will take place tonight between Mission Valley and Chase County.
