GEARY CO. -- Firefighters in Geary Co. stopped to help keep 250 pigs cool after a semi-truck broke down along I-70 in the intense heat.

Historical Preservation Corporation and its Trail Days Arts and History Center site at 803 W. Main St., Council Grove, has spent years renovating its location. This Saturday is a day of celebration as all the years of toil for Ken and Shirly McClintock culminate with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting. The time to honor this hard-working family is 3 p.m., Saturday, August 26 at an indoor ribbon cutting.
At the Tuesday, August 22 meeting, discussion was held regarding an increase to the courthouse water bills over the past several months. Monthly water bills have increased from an average of $150 per month to $589 for June, $545 for July and $559 for August. The City of Council Grove will be contacted to obtain a detailed usage history.
