Fundraisers for Ethan Lif’s family are planned for this weekend at Council Grove Marina. Ethan, age 16, is a Council Grove teenager battling osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.
The Kansas Historical Society announced that Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store State Historic Site will hold opening events in Council Grove on September 16. Kaw Mission has just completed a multiyear renovation and reinterpretation project.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office received a new communications radio tower last week. The 55-foot tower structure was installed by Hayden Tower Service at a cost of $18,668.17. The previous radio tower was installed more than 50 years ago and experienced significant deterioration over the years. The old tower had to be removed in order to construct the addition to the Sheriff’s Office which is in progress on the west side of the courthouse. A temporary tower structure was constructed on the courthouse roof and has been operational since taking down the old tower.
The Braves Junior High Volleyball Team is a well-rounded team with fifteen eighth graders and eighteen seventh graders on the roster and players to field four teams.
