The Flint Hills Chapter of the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation will hold its annual banquet/ auction on Saturday, March 23. The dinner, which is catered by Jonny V’s, will be held at the Morris County 4-H Building with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.
Requests for assistance from Care and Share for financial needs have increased tremendously in the past few years. The non-profit organization is seeking the community’s help during its Spring Fundraiser, which runs for the remainder of March and April.
Representatives of the Kaw Nation were on hand at the Council Grove City Council meeting Tuesday night. James Pepper Henry announced that the Kaw National’s Sacred Rock is being moved today (Wednesday) from an undisclosed Morris County location to its final resting spot at Allegawaho Memorial Heritage Park. Pepper Henry provided a presentation for the council and those in attendance in the chamber.
The USD 417 Board of Education met Monday night for its March meeting. Minutes from five meetings in February (Feb. 12, Feb. 14, Feb. 15, Feb. 20 and Feb. 22) were approved. It was in the February 22 meeting that Tyson Eslinger was hired as Superintendent effective July 1, 2024. He was provided with a 2-year contract.
