This week’s student of the week at Council Grove Elementary School is Jayla Hewitt. She is nine-yearsold and a student in Allicia Kelley’s third grade class. Jayla likes reading and math.
On Friday, Gov. Laura Kelly signed a bill honoring Father Emil Kapaun, a military chaplain from Pilsen, Kansas, which is a small community in Marion County, 42 miles southwest of Council Grove.
The Council Grove High School Braves baseball team started the season off with a sweep of Lyndon winning game one 18-0 and game two 26-0.
The Morris County Hospital Auxiliary is preparing for the Community Blood Center (KC) Blood Drive, to be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at the Council Grove Christian Church, 106 E. Main Street.
