Christmas and New Year’s holidays are typically a time for family visits. Sometimes we don’t see our loved ones for months or years so when we make the trip to see them and see a decline in the loved one’s mental or physical health, it can be disconcerting. Symptoms that could indicate that someone needs extra help at home are a messy house, confusing or missing doses of medications, difficulty with balance and mobility, confusion over once-familiar tasks, decline in personal hygiene, weight loss, signs of depression and/or loss of interest in favorite hobbies and activities.
