At the July 23, 2024, Morris County Commission meeting, a final 2025 budget was proposed, indicating that the county will be revenue neutral in 2025. A budget hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m., August 13, in the downstairs meeting room of the courthouse.
The Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association is set to move to a new location at the historic KATY Depot, a decision driven by the sale of their current building. This change marks a significant development for the association and the community, bringing both excitement and opportunities for growth. The move to the KATY Depot came about after discussions with Nick Jones, the City Administrator of Council Grove. The office staff and board of directors carefully considered the move, recognizing it as a beneficial step for the association. The decision was influenced by the potential to enhance their services and expand their presence on the east side of town.
The Heart of the Flint Hills Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association is gearing up to host the 2025 Santa Fe Trail Symposium, which is a biennial event. The fun and educational aspects of the week of activities start in conjunction with the Voice of the Wind People Pageant on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20, 2025.
