Wednesday, August 28 begins a reader’s favorite seasonal contest – the Council Grove Republican’s Pigskin ‘Pick-Em” Football Contest. The contest, which will run in the Wednesday editions of the Council Grove Republican, will last 18 weeks. Local resident Larry Adams assists the Republican staff with providing 17 top notch games per week for the contest.

The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is set to host its 19th annual Labor Day weekend quilt display, showcasing beautiful patriotic quilts from Aug. 31 - Sept. 3. The event will be held daily from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the historic limestone barn, offering visitors a chance to experience the artistry of quilting in a stunning natural setting.
