Bloom Wagon Farms, 835 H Avenue, Alta Vista (and about ½ mile east of Highway 177) is holding a special event 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, August 31, to help with AWANA scholarships for families who may not be able to afford to have their kids attend AWANA this year. The event is called Labor Day Blooms and Bread for AWANA.
The Council Grove High School Lady Braves volleyball team will start the 2024 season at home Tuesday against Chase County. First year head coach, Milo Butler, has seven returning letterwinners on the roster: Casaiia Mullen, Shanyn Miller, Kaedyn Litke, Lilliana Blackledge, Marlee Gant, Faith Blosser and Hollyn Zeigler. Blackledge was an All-League selection from 2023.
Mike Couch, Director of the Flint Hills Regional Council, is tasked with keeping this region of our state economically vibrant to keep our state and the Flint Hills region strong. The Council is coordinating an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs and interested future new business owners in Morris County, and surrounding areas, to learn about how to operate a successful business from a new perspective. Couch said that these classes have been very effective in the state’s larger communities, and now the opportunity is available to the rural areas of our region.
Our communities are serving up lots of free activities for Labor Day but one that has a 51-year tradition of offering family fun is the Burdick Labor Day event.
