The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Commissioners Jim Barber, David Fox and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
PLAYS IN NATIONAL QUALIFIER -- Lilliana Blackledge, a junior at Council Grove High school, is a member of Club North Volleyball Team, Kansas City, Missouri, that competed in the USA Volleyball Nationals Qualifier hosted by Heart of America Volleyball in the 2025 ASICS Kansas City MLK Tournament Jan. 18-20. There were 87 teams participating with 16,000 people in attendance. Club North was placed in the gold bracket after Sundays games. They ended up placing 17 out of 87 teams. The club will be traveling to Orlando, Florida at the end of February.
Community Christian Church is happy to announce the hiring of Pastor Phil Meyer as the church’s new senior pastor. Phil took on the role of full-time pastor on January 1, 2025, following an internship with the church’s former pastor, Rich Williams.
The January 30 Kaw Mission Council Lecture Series “Westward Expansion” will be “Kaanze Language & History: Past & Present” presented by Desireé “Storm” Brave.
The Council Grove High School robotics marketing team presented their robot and shared insights about their competition journey at the Council Grove Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday. The team, which includes students from different grade levels, participates in the robotics program as an extracurricular activity, requiring significant time and dedication beyond regular school hours.
