TOPEKA (AP) — Abortion providers sued Kansas on Tuesday over a law enacted this year and existing restrictions, including a decades-old requirement that patients wait 24 hours after first seeing a provider to terminate their pregnancies.
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) – ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs – spoke Tuesday at a ceremony commemorating the 79th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in France. The annual ceremony honors the 9,386 American soldiers buried in Normandy and the 1,557 listed on the Wall of the Missing and pays tribute to the largest and most ambitious military operation in modern history.
North Carolina’s Fort Bragg, one of the largest military bases in the U.S., was officially renamed Fort Liberty last week. The new name comes from a congressional mandate to eliminate names of bases, streets and ships whose namesakes were Confederate leaders.

The fun activities are contained in Neosho Riverwalk Park in Council Grove. There will be food trucks, the Council Grove Rotary Beer Garden, face painting, a foam cannon, inflatables and fantastic music by Colton Elsen and Ken England. Elsen takes the stage 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by Ken England at 7-8 p.m.
The Council Grove City Council met Tuesday for its first regular meeting in June.
