The members of the Council Grove Rotary Club were treated to a captivating presentation last week by a true master of falconry - Alan Pollard, of Burdick, who is also known by his nickname “Crawdad Magoo.” Pollard, a lifelong falconer, intrigued the club with stories spanning over 55 years of his deep connection to these magnificent birds of prey.

Lady Braves toppled 38-68

The Lady Braves had a tough night Monday while facing the Clay Center Tigers. The game ended in a 38-68 loss. The Lady Braves contributing to the scoring were Casaiia Mullen ( 11 pts), Shanyn Miller (10 Pts), Mikayla Hutchinson (6 pts), Makenzie Grant (6 pts) Haylie Grant (3 pts) and Kaedyn Litke (2 pts)

Sat. accident injures two area residents

(Emporia Gazette) Two were hospitalized following reports of a wreck north of Emporia, early Saturday morning At 2:07 a.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Emporia/ Lyon County EMS were dispatched to the area after a 2013 Kia Optima drive by 22-year-old Mason French of Admire left the roadway into the west ditch and rolled twice. French and his passenger, 26-year-old Alexander Conley of Strong City, were both ejected from the vehicle.

Flint Hills 4-H, Neosho Valley 4-H Exchange Meeting

The regular meeting of the Flint Hills 4-H Club was called order, along with the Neosho Valley 4-H Club, for an exchange meeting on February 10, 2025 by President Cassidy Dalquest at the Morris County Fair Building. The pledge of allegiance was led by Daylen Nielsen and the 4-H Pledge was led by Taevyn Black. Roll call was “What is your favorite hobby outside of 4-H.” Roll call was answered by 12 members and 3 community leaders. Also in attendance was Extension Agent Ron Smith. The minutes were read by Mariette Thibodeaux and approved as read. Mariette also read correspondence from the Morris County Foundation. The treasurer reported that there was no change in the checking account balance. The reporter said the report was submitted to the Council Grove Republican. Council Rep reported that the next 4-H Council Meeting will be February 24, 2025 @ 6:30 p.m.
