Strikes deer on 1600 Road
Rhett Unruh, 24, Council Grove, was traveling west on US Hwy. 56 in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado when he struck a deer east of 1600 Road. More than $1,000 in damage was caused to the truck. The truck was driven from the scene by the owner. He was wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred on Jan. 3.
Will Haynes To Present Feb. 8, Kaw Mission Council Lecture
The February 8th Kaw Mission Councils Lecture Series “Westward Expansion” will be The Civil War in Kansas, presented by Will Haynes. Haynes is the director of engagement and learning for Watkins Museum of History in Lawrence. He earned a PhD in history from the University of Kansas and has contributed to public history projects involving the New York Times, the Truman Library Institute, and the Kansas City Public Library.
Dr. Gordon to be featured vocal soloist at benefit concert
Dr. Jennifer Rodgers Gordon, mezzo soprano, will be the featured vocal soloist at a benefit concert for the Dunlap Learning Academy Museum of the Morris Co Historical Society, and Friends of the Dunlap Colored Cemetery Special Project fund. The concert will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 15, at the Council Grove-Dunlap United Methodist Church, 22 Mission Street, Council Grove, Kansas.
