The Council Grove High School Braves were in a hotly contested battle Friday night in Cottonwood Falls taking on the Bulldogs of Chase County, but walked away with a 48-41 basketball victory. Given the Braves’ advantage in MaxPreps’ Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 160th), the result wasn’t entirely unexpected. Coach Bruce Hula commented, “We need to clean up our execution, but we got some good looks on offense and our defense continues to be solid in the half court. Chase County did a good job of trying to keep everything in front of them on their defensive end and created tough shots inside for us. I felt like we crashed the boards hard on both ends and our help defense was particularly good when it needed to be.”
