The USD 417 Board of Education met for its regularly scheduled meeting on January 13, 2025, at the District Office. Board President Terry Powell called the meeting to order.
On January 2, 2025, former Kansas Senator Nancy Kassebaum was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors. Presented by President Joe Biden, the award recognizes individuals “who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.”

The Chase County Bulldogs wrestling team, led by Coach Derick Budke, showcased remarkable determination at the Charles McMillen Tournament in Herington, on January 11. Despite a limited practice schedule—just one day of preparation in the last eight days due to unforeseen circumstances—the Bulldogs took to the mats and delivered commendable performances.
Early last week, it was reported that there was a breach in PowerSchool, a student information provider that is used by millions of K-12 students and teachers across the country, including Kansas and our own USD 417. It appears from their website that USD 481 Rural Vista also uses PowerSchool.
