SPT Architecture chosen to lead USD 417 facilities plan

At a special meeting held Monday, May 5, the USD 417 Board of Education voted to approve SPT Architecture as the architectural firm to lead the district’s upcoming facilities planning and potential bond initiative. The selection follows a thorough review process that included interviews, design presentations, and input from a selection committee composed of board members, administrators, and community stakeholders.

During a May 2 visit to the Council Grove Marina, U.S. Senator Jerry Moran addressed community members concerned about the ongoing federal hiring freeze and its impact on the staffing of Council Grove Lake, a key economic and recreational resource in Morris County. The Senator confirmed that the hiring exemption needed to restore staffing at the lake must come from the U.S. Department of Defense, not directly from the Army Corps of Engineers.

On Wednesday, May 7, students, families, school officials, and community leaders across Kansas and the country will bike to school to celebrate Bike to School Day. Council Grove Elementary School is excited to join the event and will be participating by giving away bike helmets and celebrating Bike to School Day with a meet up in front of the school at 7:30 a.m.
