Council Grove City Councilor Nathan Adams is leading the community’s bicentennial time capsule project. Among the items he plans to contribute is a commemorative patch from Starship Flight Test IX, which he personally requested and received (pictured above).
Lisa Jarvis, an educator at Council Grove Junior Senior High School who will teach English 1, English 1 Enrichment, Teaching as a Career and Teaching Internship, has been selected to receive a Fulbright Teacher Exchange award for the 2025–2026 academic year. The award is granted by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) has opened public voting to select the next inductee into its national Trail Hall of Fame. Since 2007, RTC has recognized exemplary trails across the United States for their scenic value, accessibility, amenities, historical significance, community benefits, and role in promoting active transportation.
In July, Kansas Game Wardens partnered with Kansas State Park Rangers, Public Lands officers and the Geary County Sheriff’s Office to coordinate a special enforcement selective at Milford Reservoir during an annual, unpermitted, and very large pre-planned event on the water, according to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Game Wardens.
Caitlen Honer of Council Grove has been selected to compete in the 2025 USSSA Missouri/Kansas All-State Showcase to be this weekend at Mid America West Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas. The honor is a recognition based on her work ethic, performance, attitude, and sportsmanship.
