Scholarship season is upon us, and the Community Thrift Store located in Council Grove is offering up to 10 scholarships to the 2023 graduating seniors in the Council Grove and White City school districts.
The 2023 annual meeting of Rural Water District No. 2 Morris County will be 7 p.m., March 9, at the Morris County Courthouse. Members will be brought up to date on the business of the water district. There will be an election of two board members. A regular board meeting will follow to elect officers and to conduct any other business of the water district.
Kansas Envirothon is preparing for their 31st year of competition. Envirothon is an outdoor, natural resource education program for high school students that is organized and coordinated by state’s Conservation Districts. The Kansas Envirothon committee operates as part of the KACD Conservation Education and Youth Committee.
There has been a scheduling change for the public forum that will be held at 9 a.m., March 11, at the Council Grove United Methodist Church.
At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Morris County Commissioners, Register of Deeds Corrine Blosser discussed courthouse maintenance issues. There are several areas of tile in the downstairs of the courthouse that need replaced. Tiles that match what is currently in the courthouse are no longer available. Quotes will be obtained for new flooring alternatives and installation options. The item will be revisited.
