A warm breeze on a summer day embodies the spirit of this beloved season for millions of people. Seen by many as a season to relax and recharge, summer, not coincidentally, goes hand in hand with leisure.
Quick and simple meals are the name of the game when warm weather beckons and spending time in the kitchen is less attractive. Salads are best during the midsummer when they can be comprised of fresh and ripe ingredients plucked right from the garden. What’s more, salad can be a side dish or even the main meal if fortified with a little protein and some bread.
At the City Council meeting Tuesday night, Council President Mark Berner stepped in and conducted the meeting, as Mayor Debi Schwerdtfeger was ill. City Administrator Nick Jones was present as were the other councilors. The council knew that attorneys Brian Henderson and Molly Priest would be absent, due to a family celebration.
The Washunga Days float, entered by Chris Galloway in the 600s category/ private float category, tied with the Day Kids’ entry. At press time, we were not able to locate a photo representing the Day Kids.
