The regular Morris County Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday July 4, will be moved to Monday July 3. The meeting on July 3 will be held from 9 a.m. to Noon.
The Council Grove City Council met Thursday night, June 29 instead of the first Tuesday meeting in July, which would have been on Independence Day. In the Public Comment Period, Arthur Wells questioned what the maintenance plan is at Greenwood Cemetery. In addition to mowing and weed eating, he was wondering about bushes that need to be trimmed, possible repair to the historic cemetery wall, roads that need to be patched and flag poles that need to be painted. He said he visits the cemetery frequently and noticed that mowers had mowed over flowers, both artificial and real, and had not picked up the mess they created. Councilor Denise Hartman suggested that City Administrator Nick Jones explain to the crews working in the cemetery that many in the community believe the grounds to be special or even sacred and that work there should be done with respect for area families and the ones that have passed.
