When the fruits of the Osage orange tree fall to the ground in autumn, they demand notice. For one thing, they’re the size of softballs— the largest fruit of any tree native to North America. For another, they’re bright green.

This week’s student of the week at Council Grove Elementary School is Samantha McDonald. She is ten-years-old and a student in April Winegar’s fifth grade class. Samantha’s interests include basketball and dance. She is active in Gods Kids and says her favorite non-school thing to do is sleep in. Samantha says she has a dog and a weird brother.

Some 31 million Americans have Medicare Advantage plans, private-sector alternatives to Medicare introduced in 2003 by Congress to encourage greater efficiency in health care.
