USD 417 BOE Funds 2 Buses, Ovens In Special Meeting

The USD 417 Board of Education met Wednesday night for a special meeting. All board members were present except Terry Powell and Billy Glenski. District Transportation Director Matt Weaver and Food Service Director Becky Shearer were at the meeting. The meeting was called during the regular monthly meeting on Monday to address and clarify a grant issue regarding both school buses and the need for new kitchen ovens.

Ken and Shirley McClintock To Celebrate Golden Anniversary

On December 23, 1973, Ken and Shirley McClintock joined their lives together under God. Fifty years later, they are taking their united stand under the cross of Christ in the very same church they were married in. Ken and Shirley want to invite the community they love to join them in their celebration 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, December 23 for a “come and go or stay” reception at Council Grove Christian Church, Fellowship Hall, 106 E Main St., Council Grove.

Braves JH Girls

The Council Grove Junior High Girls basketball team hosted a tournament last weekend. The B Team went 1-1 in the B Tournament. Game 1 was a 2-29 loss against Mission Valley and Game 2 was a 20-13 win against North Lyon County. Four teams participated in the tournament, with those being Chase County, Mission Valley, North Lyon County and Council Grove.

Lack of Rebounding Haunts Braves In Loss

It was a game of missed opportunities on Tuesday night in the Braves gym as the Council Grove watched a 24-24 halftime tie dissolve before their eyes as they were outscored by Chase County 29-17 in the second half as they fell 53-41.
