Braves Baseball Lose Two To Chapman
The Council Grove High School Braves baseball team dropped two games to Chapman on Tuesday.
Interlocal Agreement Signed With Kaw Nation
At Tuesday’s Morris County Commission Meeting, Mallory Lee, Jimmy Parker, Chad Sanford, Brian Burhoop and Trent Blythe, with the Morris County Conservation District, provided a report on services provided in calendar year 2023. The Conservation District spent $2,500.00 towards conservation education; $35,857.00 in State Cost Share Contracts were paid to landowners; $71,000.00 in revenue went to local contractors, 7,500 acres of Morris County were enrolled in conservation programs; 18,000 linear feet of terraces in Morris County were funded and $845,297.71 in EQIP program contracts were provided in 2023. The Conservation District also held the Twin Lakes Water Festival, Wildflower Walking Tour, Envirothon, 1 academic scholarship and Soil Health Field Day in 2023. An appropriation request for the 2025 budget year was made in the amount of $30,000.00, which is $3,000.00 less than last year’s request. The State will match the county appropriation for funding, up to a maximum of $25,000.00. The request will be considered during the county’s budgeting process.
Chase County Track & Field Competes During Weekend Events
Chase County Track and Field Coach Derick Budke summed it up when he said, “We ran well, considering it was our 3rd meet in 10 days.”
Braves JH Track Wins 18 Medals at Osage City Invitational
The Council Grove Junior High track team competed Friday, April 19 in Osage City and broke 63 personal best records and earned 18 medals.
