Football fans across the area enjoyed another exciting week of competition in the Council Grove Republican’s Pigskin Pick ’Em contest, which featured 17 games from October 2–6. Contestants faced a challenging lineup that mixed NFL and college matchups, leading to plenty of surprises on the scoreboard.
Oleen Brothers, Dwight, tied for ninth largest in registering the most Angus beef cattle in Kansas with the American Angus Association during fiscal year 2025, which ended Sept. 30, according to Mark Mc-Cully, Association chief executive officer.
Twenty-seven schools across Kansas, including Council Grove Elementary School and Middle School and Prairie Heights Elementary School in Alta Vista, will celebrate International Walk and Roll to School Day on Wednesday.
The City of Herington has been awarded a $25,000 implementation grant through the Office of Rural Prosperity’s Rural Champions program, a partnership with the Patterson Family Foundation. The funds will support the Herington Downtown Character Project, part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the city’s downtown district.
