It was an unusual night for the Council Grove Junior High Braves boys’ basketball team as they hosted the Chase County Junior High Bulldogs on Monday, December 9. Due to a short roster of only ten players, Chase County was able to participate in just six quarters, resulting in a full varsity game and a half JV game. The Braves creatively filled the remaining game time with intersquad scrimmages. The junior varsity game began with the Braves delivering a stellar defensive performance, holding Chase County scoreless in the first quarter. Their pressure defense translated into quick baskets, allowing the Braves to take a 9-0 lead. The Braves’ defense intensified into the second quarter, securing a 16-2 victory for the Braves in two quarters of play. Those scoring for the Braves were Sayden Liddick (2), Brantley Hilton (2), Aaron Crotts (3), Brock Marstellar (7) and Baer Chavez (2).
