The Council Grove Braves split a doubleheader on the road Monday against Trinity Academy, winning the first game 13-10 before falling 11-2 in the nightcap.
The Burnett family reunion will be Saturday, April 26, at the Alma American Legion building, 502 Missouri Street. The meal will begin at 1 p.m. Table service and drinks will be provided. You should take a dish to share.
In April 2024, the Women’s Ministry of Community Christian Church launched a community pet pantry in honor of the late Jean Kraus, a long-time member and pianist at the church. Jean’s family had expressed a wish that memorial donations be used to help animals, reflecting Jean’s lifelong love and concern for dogs and cats. The Women’s Ministry dedicated those funds to establish a community-based outreach designed to help keep pets and their families together during times of hardship.
Samantha “Sammie” McDonald, daughter of Ryan and Amanda McDonald of Council Grove, had a piece of her art selected to be on display at the Shawnee County Public Library during the months of February and March. The art show was put on by the Kansas Art Education Association and was honoring Youth Art Month with an exhibit. Samantha is a 6th grader at Council Grove Elementary School.
