Council Grove’s Easter egg hunt is Saturday
Council Grove’s beloved Easter tradition returns for its 71st year, as the City Recreation Department invites families to the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19. The hunt begins at 10 a.m., and children are encouraged to arrive a little early and gather at the old soccer building for announcements before the event kicks off.
Council Grove Named FHL Sportsmanship Champion
Council Grove Junior Senior High School has been honored with the 2024–2025 Flint Hills League Sportsmanship Award, a distinction voted on by fellow league schools and recognized by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA). This marks the first year of the statewide League Sportsmanship initiative, which aims to recognize one member school per league for excellence in sportsmanship throughout the basketball season.

Effland’s named Kansas Master Farmer and Farm Homemaker
Six Kansas couples were honored on March 21 as members of the 2024 class of Kansas Master Farmers and Master Farm Homemakers. The annual recognition, now in its 98th year, celebrates individuals for their leadership in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and community service. The program is sponsored by K-State Research and Extension in partnership with Kansas Farmer magazine.
