Council Grove’s Claudia Homman is on a mission to raise awareness about a little-known condition that has dramatically changed her life: inclusion body myositis (IBM). Diagnosed in 2018, Homman wants others who are struggling with unexplained muscle weakness or mobility issues to know they are not alone— and that answers are possible.
Council Grove Junior High School will hold its 2025 Eighth Grade promotion ceremony at 7 p.m. tonight, celebrating the accomplishments and transitions of the outgoing class of eighth-grade students.
Late last week, a Chase County official reached out with a concern: few individuals had filed to run for local public offices as the June 2 deadline approached. Morris County is seeing the same pattern. According to the Morris County and Chase County websites, more than 30 positions remain open in Morris County with more than 20 in Chase County.
The Flint Hills Regional Council had its quarterly meeting at the Dealership Building in Council Grove Friday morning. Seven Flint Hills legislators were in attendance, including Mike Argabright and Nate Butler, in addition to the FHRC council.
