Aron Dody returns to roots as USD 284 Superintendent

Dody’s return to Chase County marks a full-circle moment in a career rooted in service to rural Kansas schools. After graduating from Chase County High School in 1994, he earned his undergraduate degree from Emporia State University and later completed a doctorate from the University of Arkansas. He began his career teaching math and science at Emporia High School, followed by administrative roles in North Lyon County, where he ultimately served as superintendent for several years. He later became superintendent of USD 417 in Council Grove. Each of these roles, he said, helped shape his leadership style—hands-on, data-informed, and community-centered.

LEPC: local voices, shared goals

The Morris County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) convened on Wednesday at the Morris County Courthouse for a wide-ranging discussion led by Emergency Management Director Brett Samuels, who also marked his one-year anniversary in the role. The meeting covered a variety of emergency preparedness initiatives, updates on regional coordination efforts, and local responses to emerging public health and safety concerns.
