The Council Grove High School Class of 2020 Senior Awards Assembly is being held somewhat differently this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with awards being presented in batches on TCT throughout the month of May. These awards will be listed each week in the Council Grove Daily Republican following their airing on TV.
MISSION (AP) — Data on COVID-19 infections that had been trending downward, leading Kansas to begin reopening its economy, is beginning to fluctuate and flatten, Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly said Friday.
Recently, Council Grove High School Juniors were evaluated for membership to the National Honor Society. Those selected had to have attained a five-semester grade point average of at least 3.25. Students are then evaluated by CGHS faculty, who rate the character of the student, leadership and service to the school and community. The evaluation counts for fifty-percent of the selection, with the other fifty-percent coming from grade point average.
TOPEKA (AP) — Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly on Thursday slowed down the reopening of Kansas’ economy, ordering bars and bowling alleys to remain closed at least through the end of the month and keeping some coronavirus-inspired restrictions in place until near the end of June.
TWISTER -- The first Kansas tornado of 2020 was spotted on Thursday night in Morris County between Council Grove and Strong City. Austin Crutcher captured the photo of the tornado, with the National Weather Service stating that the report of the tornado came in at 9:30 p.m. There were no reports of damage associated with the tornado, however, Morris County experience strong winds, heavy rain and hail on Thursday night, with Friday possibly bringing more rain to the area.
