Wichita Mayor, 3 Council Members Self-Quarantine

TOPEKA (AP) — Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple and three City Council members have decided to quarantine themselves “out of an abundance of caution” after being told two people at a conference they attended last week had the coronavirus. Whipple and council members Becky Tuttle, James Clendenin and Brandon Johnson attended the National League of Cities conference in Washington D.C. The group informed attendees on Tuesday that the two people who tested positive for the virus were active participants at the conference.

Council Approves Riverwalk Extension Spending, Hires Community Service Coordinator

The Council Grove City Council approved $96,000 in spending on Tuesday night, moving forward with a contract with RF Beachner Contractors of Pittsburg for the North Riverwalk extension project. The project will extend the Riverwalk north to Valley Street. The city received a grant from KDOT that will fund 80 percent of the project, with the city being responsible for 20 percent. The total cost of the project is $421,029. Work on the project is tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall of 2020.
