On November 10, 2022, at 9:19 p.m., officers from the Council Grove Police Department executed a search warrant at 124 South 4th Street in Council Grove.
The Light Up Council Grove home and/or business decorating contest, sponsored by the Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association, begins December 1, with registrations due by midnight on November 23. Lights must be turned on December 1 – December 26.

ANNOUNCE CAST -- Director Dave May has announced the cast for the production of “Steel Magnolias.” The ladies are: Left to right - Sarah Reichart (Ouiser), Lori May (Truvy), Adara Bolieu (Shelby), Nellye Hight (Annelle), Christy Alexander (M’Lynn), and Leanne Williams (Clairee). This is the first stage production of the new Council Grove Community Theatre. Production dates are February 24, 25, 26 and March 3 and 4. Tickets will go on sale in January. The director is Dave May and Sharon Haun is assistant director. Twenty-two women vied for the six roles over three days of auditions. “The level of talent auditioning for this show was astounding. We have had our first table read with the cast and I think this show is going to be phenomenal! I can’t imagine a better way to launch a new community theatre in Council Grove,” May said.
Supporting veterans is a worthy endeavor at any time of year, though such efforts tend to be more prominent in November. Veterans Day is celebrated annually on November 11 in honor of the millions of individuals across the United States who are military veterans. The day coincides with holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other countries and also honor military veterans.
