TOPEKA (AP) — A criminal trial was set to start Tuesday for a northeastern Kansas man who federal prosecutors say developed a fixation on U.S. Rep. Jake LaTurner and threatened to kill him, at a time when authorities have seen a sharp increase in threats to the nation’s lawmakers and their families.

It was an amazing site to see our elected county officials all in one room answering questions together. Nearly all elected Morris County Officials invested time to participate in an educational forum held for them at the Council Grove/Dunlap Methodist Church on Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Council Grove Area Trade and Visitor Association and was moderated by former Kansas State Representative Dave Baker. The sheer number of dollars it costs to run our county is breathtaking.
John Scarce, owner of Superior Systems, is a modest and humble man. He takes the role of rubbish removal seriously and has residents in nearby counties clamoring for his service. He is a retired Army veteran, who chose to live in Council Grove when his son was born, because of the small-town environment.
Saturday was an excellent day to converse with nearly all Morris County elected officials as an educational forum was held for the public.
