To honor our local veterans this year the Council Grove Republican reached out to several area veterans who served in one of America’s major conflicts in the twentieth and twenty-first century to ask them one question:
The Flint Hills League has announced its 2021 Flint Hills All- League Volleyball selections. Making the first team as a unanimous selection was junior Lily Zeigler. She is joined on the first team by senior Paisli Butler and junior Jessica Filkin. An honorable mention selection went to senior Karly Goodell.
The streets of Osage City will be bustling with the start of the Christmas season on Saturday. The day will begin with the traditional Jingle Bell 5K Run through residential neighborhoods. The day will also feature the traditional retail poker run throughout the downtown merchants. Market Street businesses will feature decorated windows that will be focused on a specific theme each day. Businesses and the Senior Center will also have raffle tickets available throughout the day for drawings. Santa will be on hand remotely
The Council Grove Junior High Lady Braves Basketball team was in action on Monday evening at Lyn-don. The team won one game and lost two on the night in their first road trip of the season.
The Kansas State Board of Education has announced the names of the more than 100 school districts in the state who have earned awards through the Kansans Can Star Recognition Program, with USD 417 among the school districts being honored.
