American Legion To Hold Flag Day Ceremony Tonight

Fredrick Phillips American Legion Post 121 will celebrate 100 years of Flag Day tonight, at Veterans Park beginning at 8:45 p.m. Veterans Park is located near the Council Grove Baseball Field and Council Grove Swimming Pool at the M60 Tank. They have collected tattered and unserviceable flags all year for proper disposition, however, if you have flags that need disposed of, you can drop them off prior too, or at, the ceremony.

Washunga Days, formerly known as Wah-Shun-Gah Days, is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year! This information came to light by reader/contributor Ken McClintock with an article penned by Council Grove resident Connie Essington. Essington was the marketing/public relations person in the early years. For simplicity and to reflect the name today, the Wah-shun-Gah Days name in the article has been changed to Washunga Days.
