Morris County Hospital welcomed its first baby of the New Year last week. On Thursday, January 11, Dr. Sydnee Nelson, M.D. delivered Owen Reid Calmes weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measuring 19 inches in length.

Harold Williams and Merline Oswald, members of the Herington Advisory Board, appeared before the Council Grove City Council to ask for their support, and not money at this time, in helping to make Herington Airport into a regional facility. The move would make it possible to submit grant applications for funds to resurface the runway and for other improvements. Council Grove Mayor Charlene McRae said council members would need time to absorb the information.
The Council Grove Wrestling Club traveled to Burlington for the Doug Vander Linder Kids Classic on January 14, with 21 wrestlers. This tournament places wrestlers in brackets based on skill level, age and weight (not just age and weight). It made for a lot of good hard wrestling. In Facebook chatter over the weekend, there were comments made by area mail carriers as to the conditions they faced during the storms of the past few days.
