I do not remember any 4th of July Celebrations in Wilsey when I was a child. The current 3rd of July Celebration began in the mid 80’s, I believe, when several families decided to pool their fireworks purchases and begin a community event. It has happened consistently since then. I remember one year it rained so hard during the meal that everyone crowded into the shelter house to stay out of the rain and cold. A few times it has been postponed due to rain earlier in the day. Most of the time it is just HOT and some bugs buzzing around. There are always friends who come bringing lawn chairs, to visit and catch up with neighbors while they wait for the special time to light up the sky!
MANHATTAN (WIBW) - An attempted child kidnapping incident that was alleged to have occurred Wednesday afternoon outside a restaurant in Manhattan’s Aggieville district has landed a man behind bars in the Riley County Jail, authorities said.
Gary Floyd, Chairman of the GOP Republicans, opened the June 12, 2024 precinct meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Approximately, 40 people were in attendance.
