The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 9 a.m. Commissioners Jim Barber, David Fox and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
The Council Grove City Council convened on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, for a meeting chaired by Mayor Debi Schwerdtfeger. All city councilors were present except for Denise Hartman. The agenda covered a broad range of topics, including city infrastructure, community events, and a response to a Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA) complaint.
In Tuesday’s Council Grove Republican, it was reported that Morris County Deputy Alex Wooden, who is K-9 Kimber’s handler, has accepted a final offer of employment as a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Trainee.
