CG City Council meets Tuesday

The Council Grove City Council will hold its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at City Hall. After the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation, a public comment period will be offered, allowing individuals to address the council on matters not already listed on the agenda. Anyone wishing to speak must sign in beforehand and will be limited to three minutes. Afterward, the council will decide whether to place any of the issues raised during the public comment period on a future agenda.

CG hosts statewide K-9 Training, Officer Blackburn and Abby lead the way

When Jimmie Blackburn joined the Council Grove Police Department in 2016, the city did not yet have a K-9 program. Drawing on his previous experience with canine units in Lane County, he helped launch Council Grove’s first-ever program shortly after joining the force.

Community weighs in on future of USD 417 facilities

More than 100 residents filled the Council Grove Junior-Senior High School auditorium Wednesday night to learn about — and weigh in on — the future of local school facilities. The meeting, hosted by USD 417 and its architectural partners, presented two major facility options, discussed financial impacts, and gathered community feedback as the district considers a bond election in March 2026.
