The Council Grove City Council met Tuesday evening, May 5, with approximately 50 people in attendance and significant public interest focused on the status of Police Chief Shawn Wangerin.
I would like to take this opportunity to add as much clarity and transparency as possible around the events last week regarding Chief Wangerin and correct the misinformation that is spreading on social media. Due to personnel policy, there is much I cannot say. To begin, I would like to thank him for his many years of service to the city of Council Grove. I know he is well liked and has done many good things during his tenure here. If I didn’t believe that, I would not have re-appointed him as Chief less than 4 months ago.
What began as a simple rental of a historic Chase County building has come full circle, as Kansas country artist Logan Mize prepares to return to Cottonwood Falls for a special acoustic performance tied directly to music created in the community itself.
The baccalaureate service for Council Grove High School seniors will be Sunday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m., at the auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Flint Hills Ministerial Alliance.
