Judy Evans

Judy Yvonne Evans died August 29 at Diversicare. She was 82.

She was born October 26, 1943 at Topeka to Harold and June (Jackson) Bowser. The family moved frequently since her father was a heavy equipment operator. While living in Loveland, Colorado, she left school early to help support the family because her father was injured and unable to work for an extended time. She later completed her G.E.D. and worked at Hewlett Packard.

When she was 18, she wed Dean Seevers but divorced him, following the death of their infant daughter Tammy. On April 22, 1972, she married Loren Evans. Ten years later, they celebrated the birth of their daughter Tracy.

In 1984, Loren accepted an early retirement package from A.T. & T. and moved his family from the Denver area to Wilsey. Loren and Judy purchased a small acreage a mile from town and worked tirelessly to clean up the property and renovate the old farm house. This would be their home for the next 34 years.

During those years, Judy worked with Loren as he did carpentry repair work throughout the county. Judy devoted her life to rearing her daughter and later to caring for her husband after he suffered several heart attacks.

In June of 2018, they sold their home and moved to an apartment in Council Grove. Two months later, Loren died suddenly. Judy then resided in an apartment at White City for five years. In May of 2024, she decided to live with her daughter in Liberty, Missouri.

During her time in Missouri, her health declined rapidly. After just five months, she chose to return to Kansas and entered Herington’s Legacy Nursing Home. She transferred to Diversicare in May, 2025.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy Evans and several nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service at the Wilsey Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 12. All are welcome to attend.
