Russell Arden Sigle
Funeral services for Russell Sigle will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, also at the church, with visitation following in the fellowship hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or to Council Grove Life Center. They may be sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
Russell Arden Sigle, 69, of Council Grove, Kansas passed away September 23 rd , at KU Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born on September 2, 1952, in Council Grove, the son of Clarence and Catherine (Swank) Sigle.
Russ, as he was called by many, grew up on a farm near Wilsey, where he attended school and later moved to Council Grove and graduated there. Russ was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He worked at Council Grove Telephone Company, before working at Flint Hills REA, and retired after 36 years. He was also a co-owner of Sigle Bros Roofing and Fencing. Russ loved to work and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors.
Russell married JoBea Titus in 1976 and they had 2 sons, James Russell and Matthew Paul. They later divorced. Russ married Sue Dittman September 12, 2015.
Russ enjoyed reading, working and traveling with family and friends, visiting the US and abroad. He and his family enjoyed the Halloween Toy Barn parties. Russ was devoted to his Lord, his boys and granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Sigle; brothers, Larry and Ernest Sigle; and niece Amy Sigle.
Russ leaves behind his mother Kay Sigle, of Council Grove; wife Sue, of the home; sons: James Sigle and wife Staci, of Manhattan and Matthew Sigle, of Council Grove; and stepson Ron Dittman, of OR. He is also survived by brothers Chris Sigle (Sharmon), John Sigle (Heather), of rural Council Grove; sisters Ann Ward (Bob), of OK and Jean Province (Bob), of Shawnee, KS; sisters-in-law, Linda Anderson (Jim), of Council Grove and Theresa Sigle, of Emporia. He also leaves behind his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Russ will be sadly missed by all.
