Marcelo Vasquez Reynozo, 103, passed away at Diversicare on March 24, 2020. He was born January 15, 1917 at San Julian, Jalisco, Mexico to Jesus DeAnda Reynoso and Francisca Vasquez Reynoso. He moved to the United States with his family in 1924.
Marcelo married Helen Decker on August 03, 1940. They had two daughters, Helen Lauppe and Sharon Reynozo-Chism.
Marcelo worked for the railroad for many years until retiring in 1979. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Over the years he climbed many mountains, but his favorite place to camp and climb was the Eagle Nest and Cimarron, NM area. He was a member of St Rose Catholic Church. Marcelo was preceded in death
Marcelo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, his daughter Helen Lauppe, sister Maria Villegas, brothers John Reynozo and Joe Reynozo, and granddaughter Janet Lauppe Hailey. He is survived by his daughter Sharon Reynozo-Chism, Albuquerque, NM, sister Madeline Gallaway, St. Mary’s, KS, brothers Maynard Reynolds and Melvin Reynolds both of Waterloo, IA and Russell Reynolds of Topeka, KS. Six grandchildren: Sarah Jordan (David), Fowler, KS, Diana Robert’s (Wayne), Greeley, CO, Marion Lauppe, Woodward OK, Melvin Lauppe, Sterling, KS, Natalie Brocker (Steven), Shawnee, KS, Jessica Torres (Fernando), Albuquerque, NM, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Due to the pandemic and resulting health concerns and restrictions, a memorial Mass, Celebration of Life and inurnment will be held at a later date.
