Lucia Lea Weirich Lucia Lea Weirich, died on September 2, 2019 at the Hallmark Nursing Center, in Denver, Co. Lucia was born May 24, 1945, to Cleo & Roy Weirich, of Council Grove, KS. Lucia was the 4th child born into this family. Lucia attended a one room school house, Centerview, for the first six years of her education. She transferred to Washington Elementary in Council Grove for 7th and 8th Grade. Lucia graduated from Council Grove High School in 1963. She attended Kansas University, in Lawrence, KS for her Bachelor’s in Social Work and the University of Hawaii, for her Masters in Social Work. Her career in Social Work spanned 40 years, from 1968 to 2008. She worked many years in the Jefferson County, Colorado School district as a Social Worker. “Ms. Weirich”, as the students called her, was greatly loved by students and staff alike. Lucia was preceded in Death by her parents, and her brother, Jim Weirich. She is survived by: brother, Del (Geri) Weirich of LaMirada, CA, sister, Sharon Clark, of Wichita, KS, Sister in Law, Sharri Weirich, of Ahwahnee, CA; Nieces: Debbie (Mike ) Shirkey, Pam (Jack) Mitchell, Kelly (Billy) Simmons, Kim Weirch and Keri (Cody) Wright. Nephews: Kevin (Katie) Weirich, and Steven (Karrie) Weirich, 16 Great Nieces and Nephews, and 1 Great, Great Nephew, and many, many friends that are going to miss her greatly. Lucia’s Nieces and Nephews were truly her children. Being “Aunt Lucia” was one of her favorite titles. Please join us for visitation with the family, at the Council Grove Senior Center, 227 N Main, Council Grove, on October 26th between 3:00 - 4:30 PM. Then, at 5:00 pm you are invited to a graveside service at the Greenwood. Cemetery (weather permitting, in case of inclement weather the memorial service will be at the Senior Center) immediately following the service. we would love to have all of you come and share a meal with us, in memory of Lucia. Please select “Tribute Gift” and add “LuciJames Robert Miller died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, KS. He was born August 15, 1935, at Delavan, Kansas. He was the son of Henry William and Hazel Marian (Burdette) Miller. Survived by wife, Carol Miller of the home of Delavan; three sons, Kevin Miller (Jackie) of Delavan, Kent Miller (Betsy) of Rossville, KS, Kirby Miller of Woodbine; daughter, Kristie Miller (Vic) of Hutchinson, KS; seven grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 10 a.m., at the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Herington, Rev. Bill Neuman, officiating. Burial will follow at the Delavan Cemetery. Family will greet friends Monday, January 13, 2020, 6-8 p.m. at the Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel.
