Jadyn Picolet put an exclamation point at the end of his season on Saturday. Competing in the 3A State Cross Country meet at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Picolet finished 12th overall and set a new PR in the process. His time of 16:48, cut 14 seconds off of his previous PR, which he set at Regionals in 2024.
I thought I was only joking last week when I told the farmer my grain cart skills were in demand, but then I ended up running grain cart for someone else. So maybe I really am a pro... though “available” might be the more accurate word.
The Council Grove Braves have achieved their highest state football ranking in more than half a century, a milestone that echoes the program’s proud past. Ranked No. 9 in Class 2A by MaxPreps, the Braves finished the regular season with a 6–2 record and now head into postseason play on Thursday night against Central Heights in Richmond. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at 3521 Ellis Road, with live coverage on Flint Hills Life Channel.
