Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation’s BJ Bayer, who has been the Plant Manager since 2018, and McKenzie Cinelli, Communication Manager, were guests at the Council Grove Rotary meeting on Wednesday. Over 30 Rotarians were in attendance to hear about Kansas’ only nuclear power plant, located near Burlington, KS.
Cases to be heard in Morris County District Court on Thursday include preliminary hearings for burglary and drug and paraphernalia.
On February 7, 2023, at approximately 10:07 AM, a Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop with a 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup for a traffic infraction on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County. The Sheriff’s deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Darren James Denter, 49, out of Old Monroe, Missouri.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the organizers of the White City United Methodist Church’s annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction have postponed the event that was scheduled for Saturday, February 11. A new date will be announced later.
The 2022 Morris County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the Council Grove Jr/Sr High School Auditorium. Participants went 16 rounds and 112 words to determine a winner. Abby Swaner, 6th grader at CGES was the champion speller. Maya Mulryan, 6th grader at PHES placed second. Kaimey Evans, 7th grader at White City Schools placed third. First place will move on to the Sunflower State Spelling Bee March 25, 2023 in Wichita. Second place will act as an alternate. Congratulations to all the students who participated this year.
