Council Grove Junior Senior High School math instructor Jarrod Hibler was inducted into the Halstead High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday. Hibler is from the Halstead High School class of 1997.
The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 9 a.m. Commissioners David Fox, Jim Barber, and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
The Council Grove High School Braves hit the road Friday evening and took on West Franklin in Pomona. This was a challenge for the Braves as West Franklin is a very physical team and rebounds extremely well on both ends of the floor and they also have a slight size advantage on the Braves. The Braves were able to come away with the victory, 63-44.
Last summer during Washunga Days, area residents had an opportunity to watch and hear Kaw Nation’s Desiree Storm Brave, director of the Kaw Nation’s Language and Revitalization Program, sing songs and story tell in her native Kaw language, along with approximately two dozen Kaw youth. What made the experience special is knowing that the Kaw Nation’s population is on the rise and their nearly “asleep” language, as they called it, has been revived or awakened.
