The 100th Anniversary of the Council Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution will be held at the Post Office Oak building Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. Commissioners Wayne Kohler, Jim Barber and David Fox were present. Dawn Wecker, County Clerk Staff, and Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, were present. Others present: Billy Kryger- Pastor Berean Baptist Church Commissioner Barber (Fox) moved to approve the minutes from the March 25th, 2025 Commission Meeting. Motion carried.
The Council Grove Republican received 12 awards in the 2025 Kansas Press Association Awards of Excellence, recognizing outstanding work completed in 2024. Competing in Division III—one of seven statewide divisions determined by newspaper circulation—the Republican was honored across editorial, photography, and advertising categories.
At Wednesday’s Council Grove Rotary meeting, Gary Kepley, Deputy Operations Project Manager for the Kansas Area of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, delivered a candid update on the uncertain future of Council Grove Lake’s recreational facilities. Kepley was joined by Tyler Nelson, Assistant Lake Manager, who is based in Council Grove and supports operations for both Council Grove and John Redmond lakes.
