School Board Discusses State Assessment Results, Approves Transportant Contract
At Monday s meeting of the USD 417 Board of Education, Superintendent Aron Dody presented the Board with several options for new storage buildings at Legion Stadium. The current buildings are not big enough to house the equipment stored at the present location and leaves some equipment exposed to the elements and to possibly being stolen. Dody presented two designs from Amish Woodwork of Emporia, a 40x76 building for $37,000 and a 30x76 building for $20,500. The Board will discuss the issue at a later meeting.
Dody also updated the Board on conditions at the football field, noting that grass coverage on the field has not improved so far during the growing season, with bare patches being particularly bad near the crown of the field. A new Bermuda grass hybrid has been planted at the field and has a 60-day germination cycle, which will hopefully help the field to be ready to go when football season starts.
